6 weeks old!!!

We have some really cool statistics to report from the past week. First, we took Mataya to her 6 week checkup and she passed with flying colors! As of Wednesday she's about 8 pounds 14 ounces and about 21.5 inches long. She's also setting some new eating and sleeping milestones. This week during her pre-bedtime bottle feeding she's been drinking around 3.5 or 4 ounces, which is huge. Having a full tummy helps prepare her for a good night's sleep. In fact, just the other night she went 8.5 hours in between feedings, which is fantastic!!! We're praying for more of that!

As you can see she's also starting to smile a lot more! 

She's working on some different smiles so we can mix things up a bit. I think she mainly wanted to give me some options for the blog. What a cutie!

This is a shot of her busting out of her swaddle, looking slightly mischievous (and fully adorable). As much as she loves being wrapped up like a burrito, she takes pride in being able to free her arms so she can flail them around. By the way, she mentioned something to us this week about wanting to play the piano when she gets a little older. Something about how her long fingers would be ideal for it... We're certainly not going to argue with that.

Yesterday we took Mataya for another walk around the hood. She was hating it for the first half, trying to entertain herself by kicking her blanket onto the sidewalk and playing the pacifier game with us. The second half was great because she finally passed out for a much needed nap. She was sleeping pretty solid all the way back up to the apartment, but within 30 seconds of stopping the stroller her eyes were wide open. This was followed by 2 minutes of looking super cute and content and then 30 minutes being cranky... ; )

...but she was feeling pretty good after mommy finished bouncing her on the yoga ball.
