32 WEEKS (8 months)

Over the weekend we toured the hospital. It's really nice (as far as hospitals go I guess). All the rooms are private. They have a window bed for the dad to sleep on, flat screen TVs, internet, and surround sound (because that's very important when you're giving birth! hehehe). It's nice that they don't do a lot of room shifting either. I only need to go to 2 places for our whole hospital visit. 1 room for labor and delivery, and 1 room for recovery. I like that they don't hoard the baby either; they encourage the baby to room in with you and only take them away once (with the dad) to do stats/bath a couple hours after birth. We'll be there for 2 days. And they put like a crazy LoJack system on the baby's ankle so they can't get stolen hehehe.

We also spent some time with our friends Steve and April and their 2 kids. They just moved back here from being in Virginia for a year. It's so nice when friends decide to move back here instead of moving away (which happens too often). They gave us some baby stuff and maternity clothes that they won't need anymore either! We're very thankful! Yay for friends!

What changes are occurring with your body?
The top of your uterus can now be measured about 5 inches above your belly button. Because the top of your uterus is so high, you may begin to have trouble breathing or feel short of breath. This is due to the pressure that your growing uterus is placing on your diaphragm. This same pressure may also cause an increased amount of heartburn.

Most likely you are gaining about a pound per week. Your blood volume has increased by 40% to 50% during the past 32 weeks. This allows your body to accommodate both you and your baby.

How big is your baby?
Your baby is anywhere from 15 to 17 inches long and weighs between 4 and 4 ½ pounds.*

What is happening with your baby?
Your baby is continuing to grow. His/her toenails and fingernails have formed. The lungs are continuing to mature but will not reach full maturity for several more weeks. Your baby’s skeleton has completely formed, but his/her bones are very soft and pliable.*

Dear Baby G, In only 53 days, plus or minus a few, we will all know your first name. Wow! And it looks like you are really growing fast!! Your mom looks terrific and healthy and happy. Your Dad is so good at taking your Mom's photo. I really enjoy the blog. I hope you like the Baby LoJack idea. It is a crazy idea, but I wish I would have thought of that! I can't wait to meet you.
Love, prayers and God's blessings,
Grammie
