30 WEEKS (7 1/2 months)

We had quite a busy week! Ellerey went to Atlanta for 2 days on short notice for business. Normally, I would've gone too, but I'm past the point of being allowed to fly during my pregnancy. Plus, the idea of sitting on a plane for 5 hours in my condition sounds just awful! I missed him so so much, but my friend Jenn was nice enough to stay over and keep me company : )

Then as soon as Ellerey got back, we had to pack again because we had our last little vacation (before the baby comes) over the weekend. It was a Christian business retreat for some couples in the entertainment industry. The weekend was somewhat structured with sessions, but we still had plenty of time to ourselves too, which is why it worked out perfect for us, since we were looking to do a small weekend trip before August anyway. We stayed in Ojai (as far north as Santa Barbara, but about 30 miles inland) at a beautiful resort. The weather was a lot cooler than we expected, but it was a nice change from some of the hotter days we've been having. It was a pretty relaxing vacation. We just basically went out to eat, walked, read, sat on the balcony looking at the gorgeous scenery, I took some yoga classes, a relaxing bath, and most importantly, we got lots of rest! Yay rest! It was so great!!!

Then this morning we had a doctors appointment at 7 am! Yikes, that was early! Baby G is doing great, making lots of noise and moving around! Now I have to go to the doctor every 2 weeks.

What changes are occurring with your body?
You may begin noticing that you become tired easily during this last part of pregnancy. During this later part of pregnancy you may also experience mood swings.

Your body is producing a number of different hormones that can cause your joints to become looser. This may result in your feet actually getting larger. Some women report that their feet grow one shoe size during their pregnancy. This is normally a permanent change.* (<-- I REFUSE to accept that!)

How big is your baby?
Your baby has now grown to be 14 ¾ inches long and weighs about 3 pounds.*

What is happening with your baby?
As your baby continues to grow, he/she takes up a larger portion of your uterus. You may not feel that your body can handle your growing baby, but it will compensate by allowing your uterus to extend underneath your rib cage.

Your baby’s eyes are becoming more mature, and now he/she can tell the difference between light and dark. Babies at 30 weeks can even follow a light source with their eyes. Once your baby is born, he/she will spend a great deal of time with their eyes closed. This is completely normal. Newborns only have the ability to focus on objects a few inches from their face. While “normal” adult vision is 20/20, a newborn’s vision is 20/400.*
